I’ve always been intrigued by the way musician/ philosophers, the people of ancient culture, and the masters of literature have made their mark and evolved through time.
My language is color and texture mixed with emotion.
What’s most exciting is what happens on the canvas as I search for the delicate balance between order and chaos.
I especially love the way the reflections/prisms of rich vibrant jewel tones of color and glaze create tension when next to smooth elements of the printed word, which as a narrative painter helps tell the story. I also use rare imported fabrics from Egypt and other parts of Africa, as well as manuscript from Hemmingway, Scientific America circa 1895, sheet music, silk, burlap, carbon, string, and cardboard as a parallel to express the rich texture found in the veils of awareness and emotion that transcend time.
Chartièr’s work has been exhibited in Dallas, Austin, Houston, Boston, Palm Beach, Los Angeles, and is part of the permanent collection of the Jesuit Dallas Museum.
ARTclassDALLAS was launched July 1, 2009 as an ART project for SELF-DISCOVERY. Workshops are now available to beginners and experienced artists to explore, discover and sharpen self-awareness while developing painting skills and techniques.
The objective is to break through and discover unexplored areas of originality, to reach higher levels of creativity and fulfillment, while developing and expressing our own true voice through art.
